Surrounded by fields, woodlands and natural springs,Houghton Barns, South Pickenham, Swaffham, Norfolk is situated a few miles south east of Swaffham, between Kings Lynn (23 Miles) and Norwich (30 Miles). It is only 90 miles North East of London.
On an ancient village site known as Houghton-on-the-Hill, the only remaining buildings are the historic and sympathetically restored Barns, Cottage (a converted granary) and Farmhouse all dating from about 1720. There is also a small Saxon church, St. Mary’s, within comfortable walking distance, which has recently been restored and discovered to have murals dating from the 11th Century -the oldest
of their type known in Europe.
The red bricked, pan-tiled Barns comprise three rooms of varying sizes, a kitchen and four W.C.’s.
